We start by taking an impression of the tooth and scan it to create the ideal mold. Once the crown is created in our lab, the placement will be the fastest part. With us, getting your crown done in one day is not just a dream.

Bridges

If you have lost a tooth or several teeth as a result of dental decay, an accident, the aging process or for any other reason, you owe it to yourself to consider the merits of dental bridges. The bridge process involves the preparation and reshaping of the natural teeth next to the missing teeth. However, patients with only one missing tooth will receive a dental bridge consisting of two crowns and a single pontic to occupy the open space. Stilson Family Dental is proud to provide patients with the best dental bridges made with the strongest and most reliable materials.  The bridge will match the hue of your natural teeth to perfection.

Implants

The dental implant process begins with the process of osseointegration in which metal rods or screws connect with the jawbone. However, it will likely take several months for the osseointegration process to create a stable bond with the jawbone. Dental implants typically last a decade or longer, meaning you will have pain-free and drama-free artificial teeth that look and function similar to regular teeth for the foreseeable future.

Fillings

You will be provided with anesthetic to guarantee you are comfortable as the decayed portion of your tooth is removed and filled. If you were to leave a decaying tooth in position, it would create a large hole in the tooth, allowing bacteria to destroy that tooth and also spread to the neighboring teeth. After numbing the tooth, decay is removed with a handpiece or laser then replaced with a filling. meaning it will resemble your natural teeth.  The filling guarantees subsequent decay does not move into the space, creating even more problems down the line.

Dentures

Dentures are available in the form of the implant and removable varieties. Implant dentures cannot be removed from the mouth as they are directly attached to the jaw. Unless you are in good health and do not have any teeth remaining, you are not the optimal candidate for implant dentures. Alternatively, removable dentures are that much more conventional in that they are removed prior to sleep. Both full and partial dentures are available. Dr. Evan Stilson is here to determine which type of denture is best for your mouth in your consultation. Full dentures replace both the upper and lower rows of teeth. Partial dentures replace specific teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Most people have at least one smile flaw.  Cosmetic dentistry corrects such flaws, creating beautiful smiles that improve confidence and personal well-being.  If your teeth are crooked, yellowed, improperly spaced or otherwise flawed, reach out to Dr. Evan Stilson at (435) 637-0424 to schedule an appointment.  We will identify the weak points in your smile and suggest cosmetic improvements that ensure you look your best every single time you separate your lips to smile, talk or laugh. Teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, direct bonding and plenty more to goet you the smile of your dreams.

Extractions

The days of painful tooth extractions have come to an end. Have one or several teeth extracted at Stilson Family Dental and you won’t feel pain. Rather, this careful and precise extraction will improve your oral health in the short-term and also in the years ahead. An instrument referred to as an elevator is used to loosen the tooth. The dentist uses forceps pull the tooth out of the mouth. If you are hesitant to move forward with tooth extraction due to nervousness or fear of potential pain, don’t fret. You might feel slight discomfort during the extraction yet it won’t be significant as anesthesia is provided prior to the procedure. There is also the potential for slight pressure to be felt as the tooth is rocked back and forth for loosening. However, this pressure will not be significant. Once the tooth is removed, the dentist will close the socket, round off bone edges that have sharpened and prevent bleeding by adding gauze to the socket.

Root Canal

Root canal treatment, also referred to as root canal therapy, starts with an examination of the tooth that is causing you trouble. Our dentist, Dr. Evan Stilson, will perform an examination of the interior of your mouth and also take x-rays to see your teeth with clarity. X-rays provide a look at those small spaces between your teeth where decay often forms. X-rays also help the dentist visualize the tooth’s pulp chamber. Local anesthetic is applied to numb the tooth and enhance your comfort during the procedure.

A protective sheet referred to by dentists as a dental dam is put in position over the area so the tooth can be properly isolated. This dam also prevents saliva and other substances from moving in while the root canal is performed.

The crown of the tooth is accessed so dental instruments can be inserted inside the pulp chamber and root canal, allowing for a through cleaning of infected or inflamed pulp. The remaining area is cleaned and shaped to accommodate the filling. This filling replaces the tooth’s pulp. A biocompatible material is used to fill the root canal. The dentist will also add dental cement so that the root canal is sealed as it should be. The use of dental cement also prevents additional infections in the tooth. After the root canal is filled, a temporary filling will be added to seal the space until the time is right for the addition of a crown or other dental restoration.

Gum Treatment

Gum treatment is an overarching term often used to refer to scaling and root planing. If your gingivitis has worsened to the point that it is periodontal disease, the dental procedure referred to as deep cleaning will prove essential to your oral health. Scaling and root planing is synonymous with deep cleaning in the context of oral health. This in-depth approach to improving gum health is painless. Our dentist, Dr. Evan Stilson, provides a local anesthetic so the gums and the tooth roots are numb. If you know or suspect you have gum disease, it is imperative that you have gum treatment performed in a timely manner.

Scaling and root planing removes tartar and plaque from the pocket below the gums and also from the surfaces of teeth. This deep cleaning is accomplished with an ultrasonic instrument. The root planing component of this gum treatment involves the use of a scaling instrument that eliminates tartar and plaque form tooth root surfaces. If necessary, we will request that you return for a follow-up visit to verify that your gums and teeth are improving in health.  Though you might experience slight discomfort in the day after the procedure, it won’t be severe. Continue to clean your teeth as you normally do and your mouth will feel normal within a day’s time.

Teeth Whitening

Our dentist, Dr. Evan Stilson, applies teeth whitening gel with 25% to 40% hydrogen peroxide. A specialized heating lamp is aimed directly at the teeth in subsequent intervals. The whitening gel is reapplied at each of these intervals so your teeth look the exact shade of white you envision in your mind's eye. Once complete, your will have a mouth full of beautiful white teeth that you are proud to show off to colleagues, friends, family and others. If you were to attempt to whiten your teeth on your own, you would run the risk of the whitening solution moving to your gums, tongue and the rest of your mouth, potentially causing significant damage.

Veneers

Dental veneers provided by Stilson Family Dental are customized specifically for you. If your teeth are stained or yellowed, we advise whitening them prior to the addition of veneers so they look a lovely shade of white throughout the entirety of your mouth. Though veneers cannot be whitened, they look just fine as they are. The veneer process begins with the taking of intraoral photographs and x-rays. Once you are cleared as a suitable candidate for veneers, we will use an intraoral scanner, setting the stage for before and after comparisons.

A transitional putty impression or an intraoral scanner will be used to ensure the mold of your teeth is completely accurate. These impressions are used by the dental lab to create your personalized porcelain veneers. A temporary veneer is added to provide restoration in the meantime. Once your veneers are delivered from the lab, the temporary veneers are replaced with the permanent ones.
